== Privacy Policy for Web Alert (Website Monitor) == Web Alert regards your privacy as highly important. For this reason, many security precautions have been taken to protect your data, explained as follows. Web Alert uses a minimal approach to app permissions to ensure that the app has only limited access to information on your device. It requests the following permissions: * Internet: the app accesses the Internet to watch the web pages for changes. The permission is necessary because the app has to communicate directly with the website. * View network connection: it is needed so you can specify a different frequency of the checks depending on whether you are connected to Wi-Fi or the mobile Internet, a differentiation many users would like to make to save mobile traffic. * Run at startup: the checks are performed in the background so you don't need to check the web pages manually. This permission is needed to activate checking when the device restarts. * Access to the USB storage: this is used for the import/export function the user can employ to store the alerts as a zip file (e.g. when the user wants to transfer the data to a new mobile phone). * Prevent device from sleeping: while checking a webpage for changes, your Android device needs to be active. * Control vibration: it is necessary so that notifications can vibrate in order to alarm you when a web page changed. We collect device and connection information for the diagnostics of crashes and for general analytics in an anonymized or aggregated form. For that we use third-party providers like Fabric and Firebase for receiving such diagnostics. The collected data includes crash traces, identification of the device and connection such as manufacturer, model, operating system version, selected language, used features, installation UUID, Android advertising ID, Android ID, IP address, Battery level, and potentially further information about the device. This data is not used to identify individuals and serves to improve the app development. Web Alert stores passwords you enter in encrypted form only locally in the private space of the app's storage. We cannot access your recorded alerts or passwords and we do not provide nor allow access to any third party. The stored passwords are only used for automatizing the logins on the web pages you have recorded. The user can further protect them by setting a master password, which will be used for encrypting the encryption key of its storage. There is no password recovery mechanism, so if you set a master password, please make sure to remember it. Web Alert provides a web browser for you. Like any normal web browser for proper functioning, it shares data with and uses cookies of the web pages you access. The privacy policies of the web pages you access apply. The alerts (this includes the navigation to go to the web page being watched), your configurations and versions of the web page are all stored locally on the device and cannot be accessed by us. The user can export the data to a zip archive and encrypt it by specifying a password. It is strongly recommended to set this password for the export if you intend to send this zip file over email or another unencrypted channel. Web Alert is still under development and this privacy policy may be updated in the future.
